Outdoor light size calculator
Door height to the right outdoor wall lantern size and mounting height, for one light or a pair.
The rule
For a pair of lights beside a door, each should be about one quarter to one third of the door height. A single light should be a bit larger, about one third of the door height or more.
Mounting height
Center lanterns about 66" above the threshold, slightly above eye level. On a garage, hang them a little above the top of the door opening or centered between doors.
Ratings and finishes
Open walls need wet-rated fixtures; covered porches can use damp-rated. See the outdoor lighting guide for finishes and path lighting.

About 20" to 27" tall each for a pair, or 27" to 32" for a single light.
How high should outdoor lights be mounted?
