Standard height or full height?
Standard (to the uppers) is fine everywhere. Full-height behind the range is the highest-impact spot to splurge; full-height everywhere is a slab-material budget.
When does the backsplash go in?
After the counters are set, so the tile sits on the stone. It is usually the last wet trade before finish.
Can you match a backsplash to my existing counters?
