Will my floor hold a freestanding tub?
A full soaking tub plus water plus a person can run 800 to 1,200 pounds. We check the joist size, span and spacing at the consult — most floors are fine, some need sistering, and a second-floor install always gets looked at.
Acrylic or cast iron?
Acrylic is lighter, warmer to the touch and holds heat longer — the right choice for most primary suites and any upper floor. Cast iron is heavier, more durable and feels more solid, but it wants a ground-floor location.
Freestanding filler or wall filler?
A floor-mounted filler looks intentional but needs the supply lines roughed into the slab or floor in exactly the right spot, decided early. A wall or deck-mount filler is more forgiving and cheaper to plumb.
