Will my floor hold a freestanding tub?
A full soaking tub plus water plus a person can run 800 to 1,200 pounds. We check the joist size, span and spacing at the consult, most floors are fine, some need sistering, and a second-floor install always gets looked at.
Acrylic or cast iron?
Acrylic is lighter, warmer to the touch and holds heat longer, the right choice for most primary suites and any upper floor. Cast iron is heavier, more durable and feels more solid, but it wants a ground-floor location.
Freestanding filler or wall filler?
A floor-mounted filler looks intentional but needs the supply lines roughed into the slab or floor in exactly the right spot, decided early. A wall or deck-mount filler is more forgiving and cheaper to plumb.
