How wide should a vanity light be?
About three quarters of the mirror width, and never wider than the mirror or vanity. A 30" mirror takes a 22" to 30" bar light.
How high to mount it
A bar light above the mirror usually goes 75" to 80" from the floor, centered on the sink. Sconces beside the mirror go at about face height, 60" to 66", and light the face evenly with fewer shadows.
Pick the right light
Choose damp-rated fixtures, 2700K to 3000K color temperature and a high CRI (90+) so skin tones look natural. See the lumens calculator for how bright.
