Cabinet hardware size calculator
Drawer widths to the pull size that looks right, and a count of knobs and pulls to order.
How big should cabinet pulls be?
A good rule of thumb is a pull about one third the width of the drawer: a 3-3/4" (96 mm) pull on a 12" drawer, a 5" to 6" pull on an 18" to 21" drawer, and 7-1/2" to 8-3/4" on a 24" to 30" drawer. Drawers 36" and wider usually get two pulls or one long appliance-style pull.
Knobs or pulls on doors?
Knobs on doors and pulls on drawers is the classic mix and keeps cost down. All pulls reads more modern and is easier to grab. Tall pantry and appliance doors look best with 12" or longer pulls mounted vertically.
Measuring for replacement hardware
Measure center to center, the distance between the two screw holes, not the overall length. If you are replacing old hardware, match that number or plan on filling and redrilling the old holes.
Common questions
What is center to center on a cabinet pull?
The distance between the centers of the two screw holes. It is the number that has to match your drawer holes; the overall length of the pull is longer.
What size pulls for a 30 inch drawer?
About 10": a 10-1/16" (256 mm) pull, or two smaller pulls. Either works; two pulls make wide, heavy drawers easier to open evenly.
