If you don't use a Cuisinart charcoal chimney to light charcoal, it's time to start. Charcoal chimneys allow you to safely and conveniently light charcoal for a grill or smoker. Just crumple up some old newspaper, stick it in the space below the metal divider in the charcoal chimney, and place the chimney on the charcoal grate of your grill or smoker. Then, load the area above the metal divider in the charcoal chimney with the desired amount of charcoal. Use a lighter to light the newspaper through the large vent holes. Wait 10-20 minutes (depending on the amount of charcoal used) until most of the briquettes are partially covered in white ash and your charcoal is ready to cook.
